It is important first to recognize that the shape and methodology of modern systematic theology has its roots in the medieval embrace of Greek philosophy, not in the Scriptures. Moreover, all theology is contextual (Bevans 2002), and in light of the missional-ecclesial vision of our programme, we have been reticent about offering an uncritical presentation in the Arab world of an approach to theology that has been profoundly shaped by Western history, culture and worldview.
